Big Table

Chicago, 1959-1960. Big Table arose from a prominent scathing review of the Fall 1958 issue of the University of Chicago student literary magazine the Chicago Review. In the last year, editor Irving Rosenthal and the other staff had started publishing (to growing popularity) more controversial material, including Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and some of the first published excerpts of William S. Burroughs’ Naked Lunch. All five issues are in the original wrappers and in very good+ condition; light rubbing to edges, pages toned with age; interiors are free of markings and contain interesting advertisements during this important literary movement of the Beat Generation.
