Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1854. Sara Jane Lippincott (pseudonym Grace Greenwood, 1823-1904) was an American author, poet, correspondent, lecturer, and newspaper founder. One of the first women to gain access into the Congressional press galleries, she used her questions to advocate for social reform and women's rights. Haps and Mishaps of a Tour of Europe are accounts of her 1853 travels in Europe, on an assignment for The New York Times, having the distinction of being the first woman reporter on the Times payroll.
