In June 1819, Harriet Lathrop Winslow embarked to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) with her husband, Miron Winslow, under the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABFCM). They were stationed at Uduvil, where Harriet gave particular attention to the education of girls. When a central boarding school for girls was established in January 1824, the Winslows took charge of what became the well-known Uduvil School. Very good in modern green cloth, spine gilt. Some toning and foxing of pages, but text is bright. 18mo. 480pp. Hardcover.
